Cognitive Science

Animal cognition is an active area of interest at Indiana University, Bloomington, involving faculty in Psychology, Informatics, History and Philosophy of Science, and various other departments and programs. The faculty and other researchers offer interdisciplinary expertise in theoretical, psychological, ethological, and computational approaches to animal cognition, and many of the faculty offer courses with significant content related to animal cognition. Additionally, the Cognitive Science Program is home to the "SPACKLED" reading group, where faculty, postdocs, graduate students, and advanced undergrads, meet regularly during the academic year to discuss current research topics in animal cognition. Several of the Cognitive Science faculty are also members of IU's Center for the Integrative Study of Animal Behavior, which provides additional opportunities to hear visiting speakers and to attend special events related to the study of animal cognition.
